Oats appam

Oats appam:


Breakfast is the most important start of the day. So why not start it with something healthy?. Yes, I am talking about oats. Oats are incredibly nutritious cerial grain and most people consume them in the form of oatmeal ( porridge). Oats contain soluble and insoluble fibres which lowers our cholesterol level and are also diabetic friendly.

Today I tried making appams using oats to make a delicious breakfast recipe for those who are bored of having porridge everyday!! Jokes apart, its very healthy for all adults and our children too!!. So let's look at the recipe.

Ingredients:
Oats-2 cups
Rawa /semolina-1 cup
Curd-1 cup
Salt as required
Water as required
Baking soda- 1 tsp
Chopped onions-2 medium size
Grated carrot-1 or 2
Chopped capsicum-1 big size
Karipatta leaves- chopped fine-1 or 2
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Jeera-1 tsp
Oil as required

Method:
In a bowl add oats, rawa, curd,salt, and mix everything. Add water to make a consistent batter.


In a pan add oil and add mustard seeds,jeera, karipatta leaves, chopped onions. Saute well. Add chopped capsicum and grated carrot. Saute well. Add salt. Saute well.



Add above veggie mixture in your previously made oats batter and mix well.


Let the batter rest for 15 minutes aside.
Add more water if its too thick to adjust the consistency.
Add baking soda and mix well.
Heat your appe patra, add oil in all holes, add spoonful of batter in each holes. Cover and cook. Turn over and cook crisp on both sides.




Serve with tomato sauce.
