Harbaryachanyachi usli ( black gram chana usli):
Harbaryache chane or black gram chana are very healthy in nature and they contain lot of nutrition for strong muscles and bones. It is soaked in water overnight and served raw in the form of prasadam for laxmi puja. Also soaked chana are boiled with salt and eaten as it is by many in our homes. Today I tried to make its usli. Usli is a dry form of any cooked grain which is prepared similar way of any dry vegetable.
Let's see the preparation.
Ingredients:
Black gram chana-1 cup
Scraped coconut-1/2 cup
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Hing-1 or 2 small pieces
Haldi-1 tsp
Green chillies-2-3
Jaggery-3-4 tsp
Salt as per taste
Water as required
Oil-2 tsp
Method:
Soak black gram chana overnight in sufficient quantity of water.
Next day pressure cook them for 5-6 whistles with little salt.
In cooking vessel, add oil, hing, mustard seeds, green chillies chopped, saute well. Add haldi powder, then cooked chana from cooker along with water and stir well. Add jaggery and salt and let it cook till dry. Add scraped coconut and off the gas.
Serve with fulkas (Roti's) or rice and any curry.
