Kanya phodi

Kanya phodi- onion fritters:

Onions are the most essential vegetable among all in our kitchen. Prepare any dish, onion becomes the vital ingredient. Onion gives an unique taste to any kind of vegetable, fish preparation or any other dishes. But has anyone tried to fry them and eat? Yes, I meant to say onion fritters. They are just fried on tawa like any other vegetable like brinjal, potatoes, pumpkin, sweet potatoes etc. In common local Goan language, we call it 'kanya phodi'. No Goan will say no to it. Its prepared in almost all Goan homes on any veg day throughout the year.

Like potatoes, onions are readily available in our kitchens. Onion fritters are little bit tricky to prepare though sounds easy but you need to be very careful in making them to get an uniquely fried onion roundel on your plate and not all roundels just dislocated!! I hope you got what I meant to say. I remember eating these onion fritters since my childhood and it is one of my favorite items.

Speaking about its preparation, I have also uploaded a video to show you the application of masala to the onion roundels so that its easy for all to refer and prepare.
