Chole chanyachi amle bhel

Chole chanyachi amle bhel ( Chickpeas salad with raw mango):

Chole chanas or chickpeas are famous peas consumed in the form of Chole or chana masala widely throughout India. They are also consumed in Goa in just boiled form with salt. These are mainly served at the time of haldikumkum ritual and also offered as a prasad for Laxmi Godess among every Goan Hindu community.

So today I had one raw mango ( amli as called out in local goan language) with me lying in my fridge, so I thought to try out a bhel or a salad of the same with boiled chickpeas. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients:
Chickpeas-1 cup
Onions-1 medium
Green chillies-3-4
Coriander leaves-1 cup
Raw mango -1
Salt as per taste
Chaat masala-1 tsp
Red chilli powder-1 tsp

Method:
Soak chickpeas for 5-6 hrs. Then boil them with salt for 4-5 whistles with just enough water till chanas are immersed.

Meanwhile chop onions, green chillies, coriander leaved to fine pieces. Also peel off the skin of raw mango and grate it or cut it finely into very small small pieces.

In a bowl mix above chopped ingredients, boiled chickpeas, salt, chaat masala and red chilli powder. Mix well and serve.

This dish can be eaten along with lunch/dinner or can be also served as a evening snack.
