Milkmaid til coconut ladoos
Milkmaid til coconut ladoos( coconut ladoos made with milkmaid and sesame seeds):
Makar Sankranti - the first festival of Hindu community marking the beginning of festivals of new year. Its the day wherein every household makes til( sesame) ladoos binded up with jaggery and is distributed to whole family members and friends saying "til gool gya, god god bola", which means eat these sesame ladoos and speak sweet to all. Its actually a festival to spread peace and prosperity. This festival is celebrated throughout India, in South its called Pongal and in North its named as Lohri. Different names and different cultures, however its an religious celebration across entire Indian Hindu community. Makar Sankranti comes on 14th January or 15th January. This year in 2019, its come on 15th January.
In various states, as per their culture this festival is celebrated with different kinds of dishes. In Goa too, we celebrate sankrant by preparing til ladoos. However today I thought of making some sweet ladoos using sesame seeds, coconut and milkmaid. Everyone consumes til ladoos, if not ladoos, as per our Hindu mythology, one should at least consume a mixture of roasted til mixed with sugar to mark the festive occasion.
This recipe is very simple and quick and I have used just 5 basic ingredients to prepare these ladoos. Addition of dry fruits is optional. Let's look at my recipe.
Ingredients:
Dessicated coconut-1 cup
Rawa-1/2 cup
Til( sesame seeds)-4-5 tsp
Powdered sugar-1/2 cup
Milkmaid ( condensed milk)-1/2 cup
Dry fruits ( optional)
Method:
Roast dessicated coconut, rawa, sesame seeds one by one and keep aside to cool.
Once the above mixture cools down, add powdered sugar and mix. Add dry fruits if u wish to here.
Then add milkmaid little by little and mix well evenly along the full mixture. The mixture will be too sticky. Grease your palms with ghee if its too sticky and take little by little quantity of this mixture and shape them into ladoos.
Your quick milkmaid til coconut ladoos are ready to be eaten.
Store them well in a container outside but if you wish to consume them later, store the container in refrigerator.
Enjoy your sesame ladoos on your festive occasion of Makar Sankranti.
Happy Makar Sankranti to all!!
