Plain tadkewala rawa appam/ instant rawa appam/zhatpat rawa appam:



A head aching situation of every house wife every morning is what shall I prepare for breakfast today!! When you feel bored to utilize your energy to prepare anything time consuming for breakfast, you always require a break!!

This was exactly my situation yesterday, when I decided to make this instant tadkewala rawa appams with no time wasting in cutting vegetables nor putting more energy. This rawa appams can be prepared quickly and turns to be something tasty and different option for a breakie.


So let's start.

Ingredients and method:

In a bowl add 1 cup plain rawa, 1 cup rice flour and 1/2 cup curd. Mix well. Add water around 2 cups to make a semi thick batter. Add salt as per taste. Close and keep aside for 10 minutes. ( You may add more water but don't make it too watery)

Chop 1 onion, 3 green chillies, 5 curry leaves into fine pieces.

In a pan add 2 tsp of oil, 1 tsp of mustard seeds, 1 tsp of asafotedia, 1 tsp of udid dal, curry leaves, green chillies, onions. Saute well. Add salt and sugar a tsp as per your taste. Saute well and lastly add chopped coriander leaves. Done.

Add this mixture into your above rawa batter. Mix well. 

Heat the appam pan. Add oil in each depressions. 

Now add 1/2 packet of Eno in the appam batter and mix well in one direction only. Add 1 tsp of this batter in each depressions and cover. Cook on medium flame. Then flip  the appams, again and cover and cook other side till golden brown. You are done with your appams.
