Sungtache sango ghalun hooman- prawn fish curry with drumsticks:
Prawns are widely found in goan seas and are one of the favorite shellfishes among young goans means our kids as well as the adults. Drumsticks are one of the famous tastiest fruit of moringa tree which grows in abundance in gardens of most ancient goan homes and is mostly consumed by goan people in the form of using them in a curry, vegetable etc. Drumsticks are not only tasty but very nutritious too!!.
Today I am going to show you the recipe of prawns curry made with drumsticks which I have learnt from my mother. This is one of the most famous traditional recipe of prawns curry descending from our ancestral homes from our great grandmoms. So let's look at the recipe.
Ingredients:
Prawns-1 cup
Drumsticks-2-3
Scraped coconut-1 cup
Haldi-1 tsp
Red chilli powder-2 tsp
Peppercorns-3-4
Tamarind paste-1 tsp
Onion-1 medium
Salt as per taste
Water as required
Oil- 1 tsp
Method:
Clean prawns well, apply salt and keep aside.
Peel off the skin of drumsticks and cut into finger sized pieces.
Grind in mixer scraped coconut, haldi, red chilli powder, peppercorns, tamarind paste, required water to form a paste.
Chop onion into very fine pieces.
In vessel, add oil, saute onions till translucent. Add drumsticks pieces, water and let it boil. Let the drumstick cook. Then wash prawns and add into the same. Let the prawns cook well.
Then add mixer ground masala, required water and mix.
Add salt and let it boil for 2 mins well.
Off the flame and serve after 10 mins for flavours of prawns and drumsticks get well mixed together in the curry.
Serve with hot goan rice.
Note: You can prepare this curry also by adding the clean heads of the prawns discarding the eyes, legs, outer shell and debris inside the head.
