Squids chilli ( mankya sukhe):



Squids are lovely clean shell fish found and consumed all over Goa. Various preparations of squids are much trendy in different restaurants across the state. Squids are high in demand due to its delicious nature and also its a very clean shell fish.

Today am going to share with you the recipe of squids chilli made by my own way. Chilli is the original recipe from China, however I have skipped some ingredients and added my own and turned out into a wonderful squids chilli recipe. My recipe is similar to a recipe of Manchurian. Its very easy once your hands are just set on it.

Let's go through the recipe.

Ingredients:
Clean squids-5-6
For batter:
Refined flour-1 cup
Corn flour-4 spoons
Red chilli powder-2 tsp
Haldi powder-1 tsp
Salt as per taste
Orange food color- a pinch
Water as required

Oil for deep frying.

For final preparation:
Chopped onions-2
Chopped capsicum-2
Ginger smashed-2 inches pieces
Garlic smashed-5-6 pods
Soya sauce-2 tsp
Green chilli sauce-1 tsp
Red chilli sauce-1 tsp
Tomato sauce-2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Sugar-1 tsp
Corn flour-1 tsp
Water-2 tsp
Oil-2 -3 tsp
Spring onion/coriander leaves(optional) as required.


Method:

Cut the cleaned squids into rings, apply little salt and keep aside.

Make a batter of ingredients mentioned under batter with required water. Wash the squids twice in water and rinse thoroughly. Deep each squid in batter and deep fry in oil till golden brown. While frying take care to close the kadai since squids contain moisture and they splutter up in oil.

Then in final preparation take a cooking pan, add oil, chopped onions, saute well. Then add smashed ginger, smashed garlic pods. Saute well. Then add chopped capsicum. Close with lid till capsicum is half cooked. Then add salt, sugar and all sauces like red chilli sauce, green chilli sauce, soya sauce, tomato sauce and then finally the deep fried squids and mix well. Take cornflour and mix water and put this paste all over your mixture. Mix everything well and off the gas.

Sprinkle some chopped spring onions/coriander leaves (optional)

Serve with fried rice or pulao recipe.

You can do one variation here, instead of capsicum you can add chopped cabbage and chopped green chillies. I had done this way once, picture of same I have shown below.

You can also have this preparation with goan rice and plain Sol kadi. It tastes wonders!!
